Ottawa Gatineau International Auto Show / SST Car Show - Vehicles of The Year Awards

The Chevrolet Bolt took away Vehicle of the Year Honors tonight at the Ottawa Gatineau International Auto Show, while the Ford F-Series was awarded Truck of the Year.

"It shows where the industry is going and where technology is going, said SST Car Show Host Rick Walker. "Technology is making big advances and new battery technology is allowing cars like the Bolt to travel long distances now, in this case over 383 kilometeres on single charge. That makes them practical and they area also becoming more and more affordable".

The awards are presented each year jointly between The SST Car Show, and the Ottawa Gatineau International Auto Show. The awards are determined following online polling, and by a panel of judges.

The evening's master of ceremonies was Bob Fevens of the Ottawa New Car Dealers Association which hosts the VIP Gala at the Auto Show.

"It is a privilege to be part of the VIP Gala, and to present the awards here" said Walker. "Ottawa is a great car town. There is real passion for this auto show, and that is clearly evident in the crowds it attracts every year. We travel all of North America to car shows but Ottawa is always a highlight. It's one of the best car communities in Canada. Peter Ginsberg the Show promoter does a great job with the show. He injects life and vitality into the downtown and the entire community with this event. It's a huge deal for Ottawa. Love the city."

The F-Series from Ford received Best Truck honors, and no wonder. The F Series is not only the best selling truck, it is the best selling vehicle in Canada period. It's been that was for the past seven years. In fact the F-Series outsells its nearest competitor about 2 to 1. The all aluminum body makes the truck lighter and more fuel efficient.
